KUTCH BORN AGAIN
The project seeks to unlock the true potential of artisans by recognizing them as designers and creators of innovation. Through Sanchari, a virtual design school, artisans are encouraged to overcome their reservations about design and innovation, engaging in enriching dialogues with designers, facilitators, and catalysts. This initiative goes beyond individual needs, aiming to reshape the market’s understanding of craft by embracing the spontaneity and playfulness of the artisan’s workshop—a space for problem-solving, leisure, culture, and discovery. The project celebrates the essence of handmade work while challenging preconceived notions of craftsmanship.

BARO MARKE, brings together artists, craftsmen and designers from all over India who work together to create beautiful things that are relevant and exciting for today’s living. Srila Chatterjee has spent a life time, in various avatars, being enthralled by all the artistry around her. Her belief is that it’s the stories that lie at the heart of products that make them special, and nowhere are there more stories to be found than in India.
this is a collaborative project between SANCHARIs and BARO MARKET. I was part of the documentation during the process period where we been travelling around Kutch and visiting the artisans and discussing the ideas and helping to bring their ideas into reality.
